Almost everything has been affected by the coronavirus, including the Lake Tahoe real estate market. Since the pandemic, everybody seems wants to escape to Tahoe. Many are second homeowners who have decided to make Tahoe their primary residence. Many just want to get out of claustrophobic-feeling cities. “For people who had second homes here that were maybe using it as a vacation home or Continue Reading
How Strong Were July Sales?
Very strong compared to a year ago, but not the levels we saw in 2016. Tahoe basin sales increased 22% while Squaw / Alpine sales increased 20%. Greater Truckee had an even larger increase of 30% and Tahoe Donner rounds things out at 25%. Total sales for the area combined increased 25% from 105 last year to 132 this year. Considering the tight inventory, increased Continue Reading

May Numbers Show Sellers Market Continues
The May report is a little late because Stephanie and I shared an unbelievable experience at the start of June by spending a week rafting 186 miles of the Grand Canyon. From start to finish the fun, scenery, people, guides and food were amazing. Officially the first bucket list item to be checked off the list. Unfortunately, a week with no cell or internet service of any kind meant coming Continue Reading

Inventory Emergency Continues!
How bad is it? Tahoe Donner is down by 40%, greater Truckee by 25%, Tahoe Basin by 16% and Squaw/Alpine by 22%. This may not sound like emergency levels but remember where we stood this time last year. We still had huge piles of snow everywhere and houses were only just starting to peek out from behind snow banks. The return or maybe first appearance of winter may have put a slight delay on things Continue Reading
Solid Start to 2018
The Tahoe Truckee housing market is trying to take advantage of the unseasonably warm and dry weather. Perhaps not to the level that one would think though. This time last year there was snow piled as high as you could see and there was likely more on the way. This year it is nearly t-shirt weather out there and very little snow to be found. January sales saw a very modest 10% increase over last Continue Reading
What Has Tahoe Truckee Homes Been Up To?
2017 was a heck of a year! With so much going on personally I was grateful to have a year of business Tahoe Truckee Homes could be proud of. While it was not our best year ever, it was a year of change, growth, firsts and strong sales. We updated the office which if you haven’t seen please stop by. Worked on a completely new user and mobile friendly website www.TahoeTruckeeHomes.com. Continue Reading
And the Trend Continues
Sales volume at minimum holds steady while some see dramatic increases. By far, Truckee wins the prize for dramatic increase. Sales volume jumped 61% compared to last year coming off a 25% year over year increase in October. Both Tahoe Donner and the Tahoe Basin sales were much more modest in growth at just 25% and 8% respectively. Squaw / Alpine held steady at exactly the same number of sales as Continue Reading
